During this stage, biological changes naturally shift teenagers’ circadian rhythms, causing them to feel alert later at night and struggle with early morning wake-ups. Encouraging consistent sleep schedules, limiting late-night screen use, and educating families about the importance of sleep can make a measurable difference. Schools and policymakers are also being urged to reconsider early start times to better align with adolescent biology.
