In a significant political twist, Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena (UBT) and Raj Thackeray’s Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) have joined hands to protest the perceived imposition of Hindi in Maharashtra’s school curriculum.

At a massive rally held in Mumbai, both leaders asserted that prioritizing Hindi threatens the Marathi language and cultural identity. Uddhav Thackeray warned that “no government should dare undermine Marathi in its own land,” while Raj Thackeray echoed similar sentiments, stating that regional languages must remain the medium of instruction in schools.

This rare show of unity between the estranged Thackeray cousins has shaken Maharashtra’s political landscape and could pose a challenge for the ruling BJP-led Mahayuti alliance, which faces accusations from opposition parties of promoting Hindi at the cost of regional languages.

Political analysts believe this joint front could influence the Marathi-speaking electorate and impact upcoming local and state elections.
