Rahul Gandhi, a prominent leader of the Indian National Congress party, recently addressed members of the Indian diaspora in the United States, emphasizing the importance of India maintaining and strengthening its domestic manufacturing capabilities. In his remarks, he reportedly stated that India "can't leave manufacturing to China", urging Indians both at home and abroad to support efforts that build a robust, self-reliant industrial base in India.

New Delhi, June 21, 2025 – In a sharp critique of the central government’s manufacturing policy, senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi today raised alarm bells over India’s increasing dependence on Chinese imports, despite the Make in India campaign.
📍 Speaking from Nehru Place in Delhi, a hub for electronics, Gandhi said:
“We are assembling things in India, but importing everything from China – from motors to batteries to lenses. The profit goes to China, not India.”
🎯 He emphasized that while products may be labeled "Made in India", the reality is India is assembling, not truly manufacturing.
⚠️ Strategic & Economic Concerns
Gandhi went further, issuing a serious warning:
“If India ever goes to war with China, we may end up using Chinese parts in our own defense systems.”
📉 He also highlighted that the share of manufacturing in India’s GDP has declined and blamed government inaction for job losses and industrial stagnation.
🔁 BJP Hits Back
In response, BJP leaders countered Gandhi’s statements, saying:
✅ India is now the second-largest mobile phone manufacturer in the world.
📈 Exports have soared from ₹1,500 crore in 2014 to over ₹1.2 lakh crore in 2025.
👷♂️ And schemes like PLI (Production Linked Incentives) have created over 1.3 lakh jobs.
🧭 Conclusion
Rahul Gandhi’s message was clear: "The clock is ticking." He called for real reforms, domestic manufacturing investment, and strategic alliances – especially with the United States – to build India's industrial future.
🎤 That’s all for now. What do you think? Is India assembling too much and building too little?
