A new wave of diplomatic tension has emerged as the Trump administration pushes European nations to impose sanctions on India, mirroring those already enforced by Washington. According to sources, the US has asked Europe to halt oil and gas purchases from India and consider secondary tariffs if New Delhi continues buying energy from Russia. Recently, America levied a 50% tariff on Indian imports, a move that drew sharp criticism from New Delhi, which pointed out that China and European countries also buy Russian energy without facing such penalties. Meanwhile, senior White House officials are reportedly frustrated with European leaders, accusing them of undermining progress made in US-Russia talks while publicly supporting Ukraine. The matter is expected to dominate discussions during the upcoming SCO Summit in Tianjin, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and Chinese President Xi Jinping are set to meet.
