Under this initiative:

For Classes 1 to 5, there will be three yoga sessions per week

For Classes 6 to 8, two yoga sessions per week

For Classes 9 to 12, one yoga session per week

In addition to yoga, monthly sports meets will be organized in every school to help identify talented students and provide them with proper training.

The government will provide a financial grant of ₹1 lakh per school per month for 10 months to support this program. Furthermore, trained yoga instructors with one-year certification are also being appointed.

One of the highlights of this initiative is the appointment of around 65,000 students as “Yoga Ambassadors.” These students will actively promote yoga practices throughout the year within their respective schools.

This policy aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, marking a significant step toward the holistic development of students, with a strong emphasis on both physical fitness and mental wellness.
