Over 3 lakh schools join Viksit Bharat Buildathon, showcasing ideas nationwide

The Viksit Bharat Buildathon 2025 has become India’s largest live innovation challenge for school students, with over 3 lakh schools from every region of the country participating simultaneously.

Organised by the Ministry of Education in collaboration with Atal Innovation Mission, the initiative engaged students from classes 6-12 in a two-hour live ideation and prototype-building session.Teams of 3-5 students worked under four central themes: Atmanirbhar Bharat, Swadeshi, Vocal for Local, and Samriddhi

One of the focal points was inclusivity — “School Spotlights” featured more than 150 schools from remote, aspirational, hilly, and frontier districts, ensuring that innovation isn’t just urban-centric.

States like Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Odisha, and Karnataka recorded high school participation numbers, showing the pan-India scale of the event.

By giving young minds a platform to think critically, build prototypes, and present ideas addressing real-world challenges, the Buildathon aims to foster problem-solving skills, creativity, and innovation culture in Indian schools, aligning with the country’s vision of a developed, self-reliant Bharat by 2047.
