New York, September 26, 2025 — Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed the United Nations General Assembly today, presenting a staunch defense of Israel's military actions in Gaza despite mounting international pressure and accusations of war crimes.
In his speech, Netanyahu emphasized Israel's right to self-defense following the October 2023 Hamas attacks, which resulted in significant Israeli casualties and hostages. He declared, "Israel will continue to fight until Hamas is eliminated and our hostages are returned," reiterating the government's commitment to its military objectives.
However, Netanyahu's address comes at a time of heightened global scrutiny. The International Criminal Court (ICC) has issued an arrest warrant for him, alleging responsibility for war crimes during the Gaza conflict. Additionally, the United Nations' top court is evaluating claims from South Africa regarding genocide, further isolating Israel diplomatically.
The international community's response has been increasingly critical. Several Western nations, including Australia, Canada, France, and the United Kingdom, have formally recognized Palestinian statehood, signaling a shift in longstanding alliances. The European Union is also considering sanctions against Israel in response to its actions in Gaza.
Despite these developments, Netanyahu remains resolute. He condemned efforts to establish a Palestinian state, labeling them as detrimental to Israel's security. "We will not negotiate with those who seek our destruction," he asserted.

The situation in Gaza continues to deteriorate, with over 65,000 Palestinian casualties reported since the conflict's escalation. Humanitarian conditions are dire, and calls for an immediate ceasefire and the delivery of humanitarian aid have intensified globally.
As Netanyahu's speech concluded, the international community remains divided. While some nations express unwavering support for Israel's right to self-defense, others advocate for a balanced approach that includes addressing Palestinian aspirations for statehood and ending the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
