Delhi Blast: NAAC Issues Notice to Faridabad’s Al-Falah University Over Fake A-Grade Accreditation Claim

Delhi Blast: NAAC Issues Notice to Faridabad’s Al-Falah University Over Fake A-Grade Accreditation Claim

The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) has issued a formal notice to Al-Falah University in Faridabad, following allegations that the private institution falsely claimed an ‘A’ grade accreditation. The controversy emerged amid the ongoing investigation into the recent Delhi blast, where the university’s name reportedly surfaced in connection with one of the accused.

According to NAAC officials, the notice was sent after it was found that Al-Falah University’s official website and promotional materials displayed an “A Grade” accreditation that the council had never granted. The NAAC, which is responsible for assessing the quality and standards of higher education institutions in India, maintains a public database of accredited universities. Upon verification, Al-Falah University was not listed under any valid “A” grade category.

A senior NAAC officer stated, “This is a serious case of misrepresentation and potential fraud. The university has been asked to immediately remove all misleading information and furnish a clarification within seven days.” The council has also warned that further action could include blacklisting or legal penalties if the institution fails to respond satisfactorily.

The issue gained wider attention as part of the Delhi blast investigation, where authorities have been scrutinizing individuals associated with various educational and technical institutions in the National Capital Region (NCR). While there is currently no official confirmation linking the university to the blast, the controversy over its fake accreditation has raised questions about oversight in private higher education.

Al-Falah University, established in 2014 under the Haryana Private Universities Act, offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs in engineering, medical sciences, management, and education. The university has denied wrongdoing, stating that it had “applied for re-accreditation” and that the “A grade” mentioned on its website was a design placeholder, not a false claim.
