U.S. retail giant Costco has officially entered India’s booming technology landscape by launching its first Global Capability Centre (GCC) in Hyderabad.

The new facility will focus on supporting Costco’s global technology and research operations and is expected to generate 1,000 skilled jobs in its initial phase. Hyderabad, known for its vibrant IT ecosystem, was chosen for its rich talent pool, robust infrastructure, and track record of hosting leading GCCs from companies like Walmart, McDonald’s, and JPMorgan. This move aligns with the broader trend of multinational corporations leveraging India as a global innovation and service hub. With India’s GCC market projected to grow to $99–105 billion by 2030, Costco’s expansion highlights the strategic importance of India in the global technology and operations landscape. The company’s presence in Hyderabad is expected to further strengthen the city’s reputation as a preferred destination for digital excellence.
