Typhoon Kalmaegi Kills Two, Traps Residents in Central Philippines Floods

At least two people have been reported dead and dozens remain trapped on rooftops after Typhoon Kalmaegi unleashed torrential rains across the central Philippines. The storm brought widespread flooding, submerging cars and homes, and causing power outages in several provinces.

Emergency services are conducting rescue operations in heavily affected areas, while authorities have urged residents in low-lying regions to evacuate immediately. Local weather agencies reported that Kalmaegi made landfall with powerful winds and relentless downpours, triggering flash floods and landslides.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has warned of continued rainfall and rough sea conditions, advising fishermen and coastal communities to remain alert. The government has also begun coordinating relief efforts and temporary shelters for displaced families.
