A severe dust storm swept through Delhi and its neighboring areas on Friday evening, resulting in the tragic death of one individual due to the collapse of a wall at an under-construction building in the national capital. The storm caused significant disruptions, including flight diversions and delays at Delhi Airport, as well as numerous fallen trees across various locations in Delhi NCR.

The weather department had forecast thunderstorms and overcast skies for Friday. As a result, temperatures in the city dropped, with the maximum temperature reaching 35.8 degrees Celsius and the minimum settling at 22.8 degrees Celsius, according to readings from the Safdarjung Observatory

The weather conditions in Delhi and nearby areas are expected to remain similar on Saturday, April 12, 2025. The India Meteorological Department has forecast a partly cloudy sky with very light rain. Meanwhile, the city may experience thunderstorms or lightning, alongside strong surface winds reaching speeds of 20-30 km/h, with gusts up to 40 km/h.

From Sunday onwards, the sky is likely to clear, but heatwaves are expected to make a comeback by April 16.

In addition, weather predictions for Saturday indicate heavy rainfall in isolated areas of the Sub-Himalayan regions of West Bengal, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya.
