Sports Personalities Express Outrage Over Pahalgam Attack; Former RCB Star Urges BCCI to Sever Cricket Ties with Pakistan

In the wake of the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which resulted in the tragic loss of several lives, Indian sports personalities have expressed their outrage and called for decisive action.

A former Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) cricketer, who wishes to remain anonymous, has publicly urged the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to sever all cricketing ties with Pakistan. The cricketer emphasized that engaging in cricket matches with Pakistan sends a message of normalcy despite ongoing cross-border terrorism.

"Sports should not be used as a platform to overlook the harsh realities we face. Until Pakistan takes concrete steps to stop cross-border terrorism, there should be no cricketing engagements," the former RCB player stated.

This sentiment resonates with the stance previously taken by Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur, who asserted that India would not play any bilateral cricket matches with Pakistan until it ceases cross-border terrorism. Thakur emphasized that the BCCI had already decided not to resume bilateral cricket relations with Pakistan under the current circumstances.

The Pahalgam attack has intensified calls for a reassessment of sports diplomacy with Pakistan. While cricket remains a significant aspect of Indo-Pak relations, the prevailing security concerns have led to a reevaluation of its role in fostering bilateral ties.

As the situation develops, it remains to be seen how the BCCI and other stakeholders will respond to these calls and whether they will influence future cricketing engagements between India and Pakistan.
