Gautam Gambhir Receives Death Threat from Alleged 'ISIS Kashmir' Email, Delhi Police Investigates
New Delhi, April 2025 — Team India’s newly appointed head coach and former Member of Parliament, Gautam Gambhir, has reportedly received a death threat via email from an entity claiming to be affiliated with "ISIS Kashmir." The threat included a chilling message and a video of his residence, stating intentions to harm him and his family.
Gambhir promptly filed a police complaint, following which the Delhi Police Cyber Cell initiated an investigation to trace the source of the email. Preliminary reports suggest that the threatening messages may have originated from across the border, with an email account handled by an individual identified as Sahid Hamid in Pakistan.
In response, Delhi Police have significantly increased security around Gambhir’s residence in Rajendra Nagar. Authorities are also working in coordination with intelligence agencies to determine the credibility of the threat and track down the perpetrators.
As of now, no official arrests have been made, but the investigation remains active. The BCCI and central authorities have also been notified, and measures are being taken to ensure the coach's safety during upcoming international cricket duties.
This incident raises growing concerns over the safety of high-profile individuals involved in Indian cricket and politics, particularly in a climate of increasing digital threats.
