In a significant boost to India’s school education system, the Union Government has approved the establishment of 57 new Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) across 17 states and Union Territories. The ambitious project, sanctioned at a cost of ₹5,862.55 crore, aims to expand access to quality education and strengthen the Kendriya Vidyalaya network across the country.
The expansion will cater to thousands of students, especially children of central government employees, defense personnel, and those from underserved areas. Kendriya Vidyalayas, known for their uniform curriculum, quality teaching standards, and emphasis on holistic learning, play a vital role in India’s public education landscape.
According to the Ministry of Education, the new schools will help address the rising demand for seats and ease pressure on existing institutions. The project also aligns with the goals of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which emphasizes inclusivity, accessibility, and modernization of school infrastructure.
The approved KVs will be strategically located across urban, semi-urban, and rural regions, ensuring equitable distribution of educational opportunities. Each school will be equipped with modern classrooms, science laboratories, libraries, sports facilities, and digital learning infrastructure to provide a comprehensive learning environment.
Education experts and parents have welcomed the move, noting that Kendriya Vidyalayas consistently deliver high academic performance while fostering values of discipline, cultural unity, and nation-building.
With this expansion, the Kendriya Vidyalaya network is set to grow further, reinforcing its reputation as one of the largest and most reliable school systems in the country.
